COVID-19 EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE



WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
Although CFCAA strives to provide services to all those in need, there are certain requirements, which must be met.  These requirements are as follows.  All applicants must:

  • Have a total HH gross income of no more than 150% (utility assistance) and 125% (rental/educational assistance)

  • Be responsible for paying their home heating or cooling bills.

  • Be a resident of any one of the following counties: Alachua, Levy, or Marion

  • Be a U.S. Citizen, qualified alien or permanent resident of the U.S.

Please be aware that if you or anyone in your household has received LIHEAP services within the past 6 months, you may not be eligible. Additional requirements may be necessary for eligibility determination. You will be informed of these requirements at the time of application. Applications will not be processed without the required documents. An application is not a guarantee for service.

HOW TO APPLY
Application may be made:

(1) online at www.cfcaa.org (see link below) or

(2) if you are elderly, have a learning disability, and/or your household does not have internet access, you can obtain a utility assistance (phone) appointment by calling our automated system at 1-844-356-8136. For rental or educational assistance, please call 352-373-7667.

When applying for assistance, you must submit the following documents with your application:

  • Photo ID (not expired) for applicant.
 
  • Photo ID (not expired) for applicant.
  • Social Security Cards for all household members.
 
  • Social Security Cards for all household members.
  • ID or birth certificate to document the age of any person 60 years and older or 5 years and under.
 
  • ALL household Income for 30 days prior to your appointment, including anything received on the day of your appointment. This includes wages, self-employment income, social security, retirement, pensions, SSI, SSD, VA benefits, TANF, child support, unemployment, workers compensation, financial aid, subsidies. (No bank statements).

  • Full lease (Valid & Signed).
  • Two most recent, separate itemized electric bills for your residence. (No Final or Disconnect Notice).

If service is turned off, bring a letter from the utility company showing the amount needed to restore service. This letter must be signed, dated and show the service address.

 
  • Statement from landlord of the amount past due (must be notarized or accompany by a copy of landlord’s id).
  • Food Stamp Letter showing amount received for current month (if applicable to your household).
 
  • Rental payment history or rental payment ledger (if applicable)
  • Section 8 or HUD Housing; Rental Form 50059 (if applicable to your household).
 
  • Documentation supporting why you cannot pay rent (i.e. furlough or lay-off letter from employer, etc.)
  • Valid Signed Lease (if applying to start new electric service)
   

DOCUMENT SUBMISSION
ONLINE APPLICATION - You can upload your documents when completing the online application. If you don't upload your documents while completing the online application, you will receive a call from CFCAA with alternative document submission options. Please be aware that this may delay the processing of your application.

PHONE APPOINTMENT - If you obtain a phone appointment, you can mail, email, or text your documents once you speak with someone from CFCAA.

If you live in Alachua or Marion Counties, please mail your documents to 411 N Main Street, Suite 210, Gainesville, FL 32601.

If you live in Levy County, please mail your documents to 215 SW 5th Street, Chiefland, FL 32626.
