Use compact fluorescent lights (CFLs). CFLs use 75 percent less energy than incandescent light bulbs and last up to 10 times longer. Initially they may cost more, but they save money in the long run.
Set the thermostat as high as you comfortably can. The higher the setting, the more money you save.
When cooking on the stovetop, cook with the lids on. Tightly fitted lids help keep heat inside the pots and pans.
Avoid letting the water run while washing dishes or brushing your teeth.
