01 Jan Strong Families program will expand
To help families in need, sometimes it takes a commitment for the long haul.
Scot Quintel, president and CEO of United Way of Marion County, says that’s the spirit behind his agency’s newly developed Strong Families program, which helps organize services for select families over the course of at least a year.
The program began in July and will welcome its second batch of families this month. The program, overseen and funded by the local United Way, helps qualified families become more self-sufficient. It does so by coordinating services from as many as eight existing non-profit organizations and government agencies.
